The term “jurisdiction” refers to the formal power of a court to excercise judicial authority over a particular matter.
관할은 어떤 법원이 특정한 사건에 대하여 재판권을 행사하는 권한을 의미한다.

Although the term most often is used in connection with the jurisdiction of a court over particular matters , it is also possible to speak of matters being within or beyond the jurisdiction of any other government entity.

이 용어는 어떤 법원이 특정 사건에 대해 재판권을 행사하는 것과 관련하여 자주 사용되지만, 또한 어떤 사건이 기타 정부 기관의 관할에 있는지 혹은 관할을 벗어나는지에 대해 이야기할때도 사용된다.
